Write a useful missed-call reply in seconds.

Four drafts built from your business name and how you actually call back: a business-hours reply, an after-hours reply, a callback acknowledgment and a voicemail greeting. Everything runs on this page — no sign-up, nothing is sent.

Your details

Up to 40 characters. Stays on this page — nothing is sent anywhere.

What should the reply ask for?

Your four drafts

Type your business name to replace “[Your business]”.

  1. Business-hours reply

Sent automatically when a call goes unanswered during the day.

Hi, this is [Your business]. Sorry we missed your call! Reply with what work you need and which area you're in. We'll get back to you. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

    2 SMS segments · 174 characters · GSM-7

    • Automated first reply — names the business and ends with the program's opt-out wording.
    • Draft — for the authorized flow only. A copied template is not permission to text a caller.
  2. After-hours reply

Sent automatically when a call goes unanswered outside your hours.

Hi, this is [Your business]. Sorry we missed your call! We're closed right now. Reply with what work you need and which area you're in. We'll call you back later today. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

    2 SMS segments · 208 characters · GSM-7

    • Automated first reply — names the business, sets the callback expectation, ends with the opt-out wording.
    • Draft — for the authorized flow only. A copied template is not permission to text a caller.
  3. Callback acknowledgment

Typed by you from the app once you've seen the enquiry — not automated.

Hi, it's [Your business]. Thanks, I've seen your message and I'll call you later today.

    1 SMS segment · 89 characters · GSM-7

    • A person sends this inside an existing thread; the first automated text already carried the opt-out wording.
    • Draft — for the authorized flow only. A copied template is not permission to text a caller.
  4. Voicemail greeting

Spoken to callers who reach a greeting instead of a person — not an SMS.

You've reached [Your business]. We can't pick up right now. Please leave your name, your number and what work you need and which area you're in, and we'll call you back later today.

Spoken greeting — not an SMS

    • Spoken greeting for callers who can't or don't text — read it aloud once to check the pace.
    • Draft — for the authorized flow only. A copied template is not permission to text a caller.

Edit the wording after you copy it. Whatever you use live must still name your business and, for automated texts, keep the STOP / HELP line — that is part of the carrier-approved program, not decoration.

What makes a good missed-call text

Name the business first
“Hi, this is Cedar Ridge Landscaping” — the caller dialled you seconds ago and needs to know it's you.
Ask one thing you will actually use
The job and the area is usually enough to decide who calls back and when. Timing only if it changes your answer.
Keep the opt-out line on automated texts
“Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.” is part of the approved program, not filler.
No prices, no promises
A text that quotes a number or confirms an appointment creates a commitment nobody has checked yet.
Say when a person will follow up
A realistic window beats an optimistic one. Missing your own promise costs more than a slower promise.

The two automated drafts follow the same shape as the first text BookedBack sends on a live line: identify the business, one question, opt-out wording. See the exact production wording on the SMS & opt-in policy.

A reply only starts the conversation. For the details worth collecting before you call back, use the contractor call intake checklist; once an estimate is out, see how to follow up without chasing.

Questions people ask about these templates

Can I send these from my own phone?
Yes — you can type any wording yourself, to anyone who has contacted you, from any phone. The automated program is different: it sends the first reply for you after a missed call, always names your business and always carries the STOP / HELP line, and only after the carriers have approved your BookedBack number.
Does copying a template give me permission to text a caller?
No. A template is wording, not consent. In the BookedBack program the only person who is texted is someone who just called your business and did not reach you, and the message is a reply to that call. Nothing on this page sends a message.
Why is there no price in the template?
Because a price in a first text becomes a quote you did not check. The reply's job is to capture what the caller needs and hand it to a person who can price it properly.
What about callers who can't receive texts?
Landlines, some office systems and callers who withhold their number can’t get a text. That is what the voicemail greeting is for: they hear your name, leave what they need, and a person calls back. On a BookedBack line the missed call is shown as a call to return; voicemail capture is switched on per line once it has been proven on a real call. How the paths differ.
