Terms of Service

These terms cover businesses that use BookedBack. If you are a consumer who received a text message, see the SMS & Opt-In Policy and Privacy Policy instead.

The service

BookedBack provides a missed-call text-back service. When a call to your business goes unanswered and is forwarded to the toll-free number we assign to your business, we answer it with a greeting, record any message the caller leaves, send a text message from that toll-free number only after caller consent and carrier approval, run an automated assistant to understand what the caller needs, and show the enquiry and the outcomes you record in your dashboard. A captured enquiry is not a booking; you confirm times with your customers yourself.

Setup is self-service in the app. We provide setup assistance: forwarding instructions for your line, the test call, and guidance on reviewing your enquiries. Your existing telephone number is not ported or changed; unanswered calls reach us only through the conditional call forwarding you enable with your own provider, and you may reverse that forwarding at any time. We do not guarantee any particular number of enquiries, callbacks or bookings, any revenue outcome, or that every caller will reply.

Usage pricing and activation

New businesses can apply for pay-as-you-go service at $2 CAD per engaged customer conversation, including applicable tax. Your allowance includes 1 free conversation once per verified business, with eligibility checked during business review. There is no monthly subscription or setup fee. Applications are free; automated texting and billing are not live yet. Business review, caller-consent setup, carrier approval and a successful line test come first. After that test and before pay-as-you-go service starts, you must explicitly agree to the usage terms and provide payment details, including when you have free conversations remaining.

Earlier five-conversation allowances remain valid for businesses that already received that offer. Your assigned allowance is shown in Billing & usage. The supervised activation test is separate and does not consume your introductory customer conversation.

A conversation counts only when a substantive inbound customer enquiry is saved after consent. A missed call, outgoing text or consent keyword alone does not count. Unanswered enquiries, tests and duplicate enquiries are excluded. Identified spam is excluded. Flag spam or a wrong number for review before invoicing; flagged charges are held while reviewed. Ordinary continued discussion of the same enquiry is never automatically charged again. A charge does not guarantee a suitable lead, a booking or revenue. Contact us to review any incorrectly counted conversation. Already invoiced items require a billing review; a refund is not automatic.

Actual billable usage is invoiced monthly on the eighth of the following month. This allows enquiries started at month-end to complete their included reply window. Applicable tax is included in the published price; it is not added on top. Existing paid founding pilots retain their agreed price, duration, cancellation and refund terms and are not automatically migrated.

Spending limits and included messaging

The default monthly spending limit is $50 CAD, adjustable up to $200 CAD. New automated enquiries reserve space in that limit until a substantive reply is saved or the 7-day window expires. Reservations are displayed separately and are not charges. New automated conversations pause when there is no room in the limit. Your inbox and existing conversations remain available within their included limits. We do not silently increase your limit.

Each conversation includes 7 days of messaging from first automated outreach, up to 12 AI replies and 40 outbound SMS segments. The assistant hands over at the AI reply limit. At the messaging or time limit, continue directly by phone or another channel. Up to 100 new automated enquiries may be initiated per month, including unanswered ones. These safety limits can pause outreach before your spending limit. There are no automatic message overage fees.

Cancellation and inactive lines

You may cancel without a cancellation fee. Valid usage incurred before cancellation remains payable. We help you reverse call forwarding, and you may request export or deletion of your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We provide at least 30 days’ notice of future price changes; changes do not alter usage already incurred.

Our team reviews lines after 60 days without activity and contacts the business owner before pausing or releasing the dedicated number. There is no inactivity fee. We cannot guarantee that a released number can be restored. Your original business number remains with your carrier.

Your responsibilities

The messages sent through your number are sent on your behalf. You agree that you will:

  • Use the service only to reply to people who called your business. You may not use it to send marketing, promotions, or bulk messages, or to message anyone who did not contact you first.
  • Honour opt-out requests. Our system does this automatically; you may not attempt to defeat it.
  • Not use the service for anything unlawful, or for content that is deceptive, harassing, or prohibited by mobile carriers.
  • Provide accurate business information for carrier registration.

Mobile carriers may suspend or block messaging that violates their rules. We may suspend the service immediately if we reasonably believe it is being misused.

The automated assistant

Replies are generated automatically and may contain errors. The assistant hands the conversation to you when it detects anything unusual, and you can take over any conversation at any time. You remain responsible for what is communicated to your customers and for honouring any commitment made in a conversation.

Availability

We aim to keep the service running continuously, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. The service depends on telephone carriers and other providers listed in our Privacy Policy, and outages in those systems are outside our control.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid in the three months before the claim arose. We are not liable for lost profits, lost business, or missed bookings.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of British Columbia.
